HISTORY: Hybrid. Developed by Dr. James Baggett at Oregon State University and released by Burpee in 1978 as Super Sweet 100, this landmark F1 hybrid crossed a high-sugar breeding line with the already-popular Sweet 100, pushing sweetness to a then-unheard-of 9–11 Brix. It instantly became the best-selling cherry tomato in North America, redefined what gardeners expected from a red cherry, and sparked the entire ultra-sweet cherry craze. In 2004 Burpee updated the strain (adding VF disease resistance) and changed the name to Supersweet 100—the version most commonly sold today.
Sold as a single plant in a 3.5" pot.
