Common Sage or Garden sage is the most commonly grown culinary variety. The plants gray-green leaves are popular for poultry stuffing and for flavoring rich meats like pork or duck. Also in homemade sausage, omelettes, cheese and bean dishes.


Sage tea gargle is valuable for sore throat. It is also used for digestive problems, including loss of appetite, gas, stomach pain, diarrhea, bloating, and heartburn. It is effective for reducing overproduction of perspiration and saliva and for depression, memory loss, and Alzheimer's disease.
