Eli produces impressively large, beefsteak-style fruits that typically weigh 1 pound each (often 1–1½ pounds), with a classic round to slightly flattened shape and smooth, deep red skin. The flesh is meaty and juicy, with a unique flavor that's a delightful blend of sweetness and bright acidity—making it versatile for fresh eating without being overly tart or bland.
Plants are vigorous, indeterminate, reaching 6–8 feet tall with strong, upright vines that need solid staking or caging to handle the weight of the harvest. Maturity comes in about 75–85 days from transplant, which is mid-season for a big beefsteak. Yields are exceptional for its size class—one well-supported plant can deliver 20–30+ pounds of tomatoes over the season, especially if pruned lightly and fed consistently.
HISTORY: Introduced in Seed Savers 1998 Yearbook by Jerry L. Bosner of Lowell, Ohio (OH BO J), seed origin unknown.
Sold in a 3.5" pot.
