Fruits are large, slightly flattened globes that typically weigh 10–20 ounces, with smooth, deep red skin and subtle green shoulders that disappear when fully ripe. Inside, the flesh is juicy yet remarkably meaty, delivering an outstanding sweet-acid balance laced with rich, complex, old-fashioned tomato depth.

Plants are vigorous indeterminates with regular-leaf foliage, reaching 5–8 feet tall depending on climate and support. What sets it apart from most big, flavorful reds is its exceptional earliness and cold tolerance: it begins producing just 68–75 days from transplant and sets fruit reliably even in cool, overcast summers when many large-fruited varieties sulk or drop blossoms.

Once the harvest starts, Cosmonaut Volkov keeps coming. The vines load up with heavy, continuous crops right through to frost, offering impressive yields for a tomato of this size and quality.
