THE WORLD'S SECOND HOTTEST PEPPER
An intentional cross between a Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia) and a red habanero, created by Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company. From its release until late 2023, it held the Guinness World Record as the hottest chili pepper at an average of 1,569,300 SHU (peaking over 2.2 million SHU). It was dethroned in 2023 by Ed Currie’s newer creation, Pepper X.
PuckerButt describes it perfectly:
“Beautiful bright red with a rough surface and a long stinger… Those who don’t fear the Reaper are fools.” Flavor is surprisingly complex—sweet and fruity upfront with hints of cinnamon and chocolate before the intense heat hits.
Pods vary: some heavily gnarled and bumpy, others smoother, but most feature the signature “scorpion tail” stinger. Original color is red; stable variations now include chocolate, yellow, and peach.
A true super-hot legend—handle with extreme respect!
