THE WORLD'S SECOND HOTTEST PEPPER

An intentional cross made between a Ghost Pepper and a Red Habanero by Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company. Guinness rated it officially at 2,200,000 scoville heat units.

Pepper X, also bred by Ed Currie, took over as the hottest chili pepper in late 2023, recognized by Guinness World Records, beating the Carolina Reaper by 71,000 Scoville Heat Units!

This is how Puckerbutt Pepper Co. describes this its baby:

This pepper--the world's hottest--is beautiful bright red with a rough surface and a long stinger. But don't let its good looks fool you! This pepper got its name for a reason. If you are "stupit" enough to eat this pepper whole you may wish to enter the doors of death willingly! Be very, very careful using this pepper. Those who don't fear the Reaper are fools. Its Scoville rating is 1,569,300 SHU. Flavor has been described as sweet, fruity, with a hint of cinnamon with chocolate undertones. Uses include hot sauces, salsas, cooking, settling old scores and combat.

Pods for this variety are fairly variable - some have gnarly bumps all over them and others will have a smoother skin. Indicative of the super hots is the tell tale “scorpion’s tail”. Not every fruit will feature the infamous stinger, but most pods should. The original color is red, but now other natural color variations exist including chocolate, yellow and even peach.

Sold in a 2.62" wide x 3.5" deep pot.
