The Blot pepper is a rare, heirloom sweet pepper variety prized for its stunning visual appeal and versatility in the kitchen.

Plants are vigorous and productive.. They grow to about 2–3 feet tall with a bushy, upright habit and dense green foliage. Mid-season producers, taking 70–80 days from transplant to harvest, and thrive in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil. They're relatively compact, making them suitable for gardens or containers and can yield dozens of pods per plant under optimal warm conditions (ideal temperatures: 70–85°F).

The pods are elongated and slender, reaching up to 7 inches long and about 1–1.5 inches wide, with a tapered shape. Immature fruits start as vibrant purple, providing a dramatic display on the plant, then mature through stages of light yellow to a final bright orange. The skin is glossy and thin-walled, with crisp, juicy flesh that's easy to slice. Yields are generous, with fruits hanging in clusters.

Blot peppers offer a crunchy, very sweet taste reminiscent of a high-sugar bell pepper or mini banana pepper, with subtle fruity undertones and no bitterness. The flavor shines fresh—think snacking straight from the garden or adding pops of color to salads—but it holds up well when cooked, developing a milder sweetness.

This pepper hails from Croatia in Eastern Europe, where it's traditionally grown as a multipurpose vegetable. It's an heirloom strain, likely developed through local selection for its unique coloration and productivity, though specific historical details are scarce due to its regional cultivation.
