BEST OF 2016!
A truly beautiful tomato, both to the eyes and the pallette! Blue shoulders (anthocyanin) over dark pink skin and flesh. Evenly balanced acid and sugar. Fruits hover around 8 - 12 ounces, are nearly coreless, with good production on strong vines. Truly excellent. A solid 9.5
Note that blue shoulders will be most pronounced on fruits which have been exposed to the sunlight - those that may get buried in the foliage with not have the deep blue shoulders.
HISTORY: This tomato was developed from an F2 line from a 'P20' ('OSU Blue') X 'Beauty King' cross made by Mark McCaslin of Frogsleap Farm.
Dean Slater and Blane Horton got F3 seed in 2011, from which Blane found an unstable, but gorgeous F4 or F5 plant [in 2013], that had prominent anthocyanin fruit stripes (Aft/Fs) on a red-orange fruit. Dean coined the nickname Siberian Tiger as it looked like tiger stripes, and a photo of which was posted everywhere – and got everyone talking about “Siberian Tiger”.
Blane sent me some of his F4 or F5 (wasn't indicated) seed in 2013 and I've been growing out several plants each year since. My selection is now stable and has be re-named "Pink Siberian Tiger".
Sold in a 3.5" pot.
