Garlic chives have a wonderfully mild oniony garlic flavor. The thick, tubular, hollow leaf of this Allium is suited for drying or freezing, but is best used fresh. Use it in any dishes that call for garlic and/or onion. Plants are much less rampant than common chives and seemingly don't re-seed much at all. 

 

While plants can be treated as an annual, these are hardy perennials.

 

As an added bonus, bioflavonoids found in chives and other cousins within the Allium family, including garlic and onions, contain organic antioxidants which are believed to reduce certain types of cancer.
