Large, meaty red beefsteak tomatoes ranging from 3/4 to 1 lb each—these absolutely blew me away in 2022. Despite being planted in arguably the worst spot in the garden, Ashleigh never slowed down and kept pumping out fruit like a champion.
Surprisingly compact for its incredible productivity, plants stay under 5 feet tall—far shorter than you’d expect for tomatoes of this size and volume. Late-season bonus: when a severe whitefly infestation wiped out nearly everything else in that bed, Ashleigh shrugged it off and remained virtually unaffected. Tough, reliable, and a top performer.
HISTORY: Orignally from the village of Lazec, Macedonia, it was introduced to the U.S., via SSE Member, Neil Gillard (ONT GI N) of Ontario, Canada. He received the seeds from his friends at Wilber Lake, near Eganville Ontario. Mr. Gillard named the variety after his niece.
Sold as one plant in a 3.5" pot.
