Brownies is a mid-season, indeterminate "two-bite" cherry tomato that produces an astonishing number — often hundreds per plant — of perfectly uniform, golf-ball-sized (2 inch) round fruits on long, elegant trusses. The skin ripens to a deep mahogany-chocolate brown with metallic green-bronze shoulders, while the flesh inside is brick-red with excellent texture. Flavor is outstanding and well-balanced: rich tomato depth with moderate sweetness and pleasant acidity. Plants are vigorous, healthy, regular-leaf, show strong disease resistance and notable drought tolerance, and keep producing heavily until frost.

HISTORY: Brownies first appeared in Seed Savers Exchange listings in 2009 under the care of the late Gary Millwood of Kentucky. After Gary’s passing, the variety was maintained and further distributed by Bill Minkey of Darien, Wisconsin. Many growers, including trials in 2017 and later, discovered it as a standout for sheer productivity, beauty, and flavor. Although the ultimate origin before Gary Millwood is not documented, it is believed to be an older American garden selection that had circulated privately for years.
