Originating from the nation of Trinidad, it is one of the world's hottest peppers and also a landrace variety of Trinidad. '7 Pot' refers to one pod being hot enough to flavor seven pots of stew.
Multiple strains of the 7 Pot have surfaced over recent years. There is some variation in appearance, shape and size due to genetic instability but for the most part, pods are 2-1/2” long and 2-1/2” wide with crinkled yellow skin.
So, apparently people actually eat these (shaking my head) and have described the flavor as 'fruity' and 'tastes like pineapple'.
Oh, and then this is said: "Then the heat kicks in. The burn is intense, but quite pleasant. It starts fast and then builds for about 2 minutes. Then cruises along for a couple of minutes."
Sold in a 2.62" wide x 3.5" deep pot.
